On Tuesday, June 25, 2019, the Senate Education Committee voted unanimously to send PA Secretary Pedro A. Rivera to the full PA Senate for a re-confirmation vote. Thus, Secretary Rivera appears to be well on his way to a second term as the Commonwealth’s education secretary. The committee’s vote was in response to Governor Wolf’s nominating Secretary Rivera for re-appointment as the head of the PA Department of Education.

In 2015, the Senate voted unanimously to appoint Rivera as the secretary of education.

Secretary Rivera gave a highly acclaimed welcome address to attendees at the 2019 Annual PAPSA Conference in Leola in April.
